Ohio State football loses a recruit because of fear of competition

The Ohio State football program has the most competitive wide receiver room in the country. Some of the players they have produced out of that position are insane. The next one is Marvin Harrison Jr. who will likely be the first non-quarterback taken in the NFL Draft.

This year, the room is going to be just as loaded. Two more five-star freshmen come into the program as well to keep giving them depth. Apparently, the depth that the Buckeyes have already was enough to scare away one recruit who had committed to them in the 2025 class.

Jayvan Boggs de-committed from the Ohio State football program on Tuesday. He is a borderline four-star prospect out of Florida. He had been committed to the Buckeyes since October and racked up some offers from other schools after that anyway.

It seems that Boggs is afraid to compete. While he was the only receiver committed in the class so far, the room is still very crowded. As I mentioned before, the Buckeyes have two five-star freshmen who just came in this year. That doesn't leave a lot of playing time for someone not as highly-touted as Boggs.

I don't blame anyone for wanting playing time. He should be able to go somewhere that he can showcase his talent. But don't commit somewhere and then de-commit when you realize you might not get the playing time you thought you were going to. Stay and compete.

Boggs didn't want to stay and compete. That's perfectly fine with the Ohio State football team. They only want players who are going to stay and try to earn playing time. Nothing is given in this program, things are earned. That's why they were fine with watching Kyle McCord walk out the door.

I wish Boggs luck wherever he ends up going.
